The Co-op

Lender Information

The Co-operative Bank Plc generally markets itself on being an ethical bank. Part of the company’s policy seeks to avoid investing in companies involved in certain elements of the arms trade, fossil fuel extraction, genetic engineering, animal testing and the use of sweatshop labour.

Much of the bank’s income is derived from interest charges on loans and it is Britain’s seventh largest lender. In contrast to the company name, the bank isn’t in fact a co-operative because it isn’t directly owned by its members.
